About the Programme
The Oldbury United FC Football & Education Programme is designed for students looking to begin a career in sport while experiencing the lifestyle and demands of a professional footballer.
Every student will receive a personalised development plan tailored to their individual goals, supporting their growth both on and off the pitch.
At Oldbury United FC, we are committed to creating a forward-thinking environment built on honesty, integrity, hard work, and discipline — all while moving “Forward in Unity”.
With the support of qualified UEFA coaches, experienced mentors, and dedicated teaching staff, we provide students with the best possible opportunity to develop both as footballers and as positive members of society.
Our Football Philosophy
Our professional post-16 staff ensure that the programme is inclusive, enjoyable, and safe for every student.
Our football syllabus is aligned with the FA’s “England DNA” philosophy, focusing on:
- In Possession
- Out of Possession
- Transition Play (Attacking & Defending)
- Formation & Playing Style
Education Pathway
Level 3 Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity
(Equivalent to 3 A-Levels)
In Partnership with Juniper Training
Oldbury United FC proudly works alongside Juniper Training, our trusted education partner with over 40 years of experience delivering qualifications and an impressive 93% pass rate.
Juniper Sports provides outstanding post-16 sports education, equipping learners with the knowledge, experience, and practical skills needed for a successful career in the sports industry.
Our study programmes combine academic learning with real-world industry experience, helping students raise their ambitions and prepare for future careers in sport.
Students will complete:
- 16 hours per week of seminars, lectures, and classroom learning
- 14 hours per week of football training, fixtures, and extracurricular activities
Students will study with us for a minimum of two years.
At Oldbury United FC, education always comes first, and all students are expected to fully commit to their academic studies alongside their football development.

- Successful meeting/interview with the Oldbury United FC post-16 team
Work Experience & Career Development
Every student will receive a tailored personal development plan focused on their future ambitions, both within football and across the wider sports industry.
Career pathways may include:
- Coaching & Management
- Performance Services
- Medical
- Sports Science
- Analysis
- Psychology
- Business & Sports Management
- Events & Hospitality
- Social Media & Marketing
- Merchandising
Students will also gain two years of hands-on work experience in a live sporting environment alongside their studies.
Our programme is proudly supported by Newman University and University of Wolverhampton, both of which welcome progression opportunities for students completing the programme.
Facilities
Students will have access to excellent facilities, including:
- State-of-the-art 4G football pitches
- Full-size 11-a-side stadium pitch suitable for Step 4 football
- Two dedicated classrooms
- Private study areas
Transport between classrooms and training facilities is included, with all locations within a 5-minute drive.
Students will also take part in trips throughout the year to support team building, learning experiences, and leisure activities.

Entry Requirements:
A willingness to learn and resit Maths and English if required. Students will be selected after meeting with the Oldbury United FC post-16 team.
Extracurricular Activities and Work Experience:
During each student’s time on the programmes, they will have a tailored personal development plan regarding their future opportunities. This would include from a playing perspective as well as from at least one other career opportunity in sport from, a coaching and management, performance services (Medical, Scientific, Analytical, Psychological) business management, events and hospitality, social media and marketing merchandising and more.
As a part of the programme students will be given the opportunity to gain 2 years of work experience in a live environment alongside their studies.
Our programme is supported by Newman University and Wolverhampton University and they would welcome students from us after they have completed our programme.

- State of the art 4G football pitches
- Full 11-aside pitch suitable for step-4 football
- X2 Classrooms
- Private study areas
- (Transport from our classrooms to other facilities will be included, less than a 5-minute drive away)
Our students will also be taken on trips through out the year to support with team building, learning and leisure.
